People

We are working with the Chikunda people group. They are located in the corners of Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.  This neck of the woods is sitting smack dab in the middle of safari and hunting areas in all 3 countries.  Because of the 2 rivers, the major source of food and income is via fishing.  The place out here is really remote and lends to a harsh living environment.  That translates only to the Chikunda’s ability to cope with these harsh conditions.  Blessedly, the location and hardships faced don’t factor in hardly at all when it comes to their attitude.  These people are very friendly and kind.  David Livingstone came through here over 100 years ago and brought with him Christianity.  Shortly after that the British gained control of Zambia.  Because of this much of western thought and religion has been brought through this area for over a century now.  The major problem we face out here is syncretism.  The people love our Jesus and have no problem adding Him to the list of others that fit their world view.  Our major work is trying to get them to understand the word “only” from John 14:6.  It is Christ alone.  Please be in prayer for the Chikunda people that God will bless this area of the world and raise up leaders for the work of the Kingdom.

Just checking to see if you ever received the box we sent to you back in late September or early October. They said it would take several weeks to get there, and it was pretty heavy. Mailing alone was over $60, so that may be the problem if you didn’t get it… Love you all and praying for you… Larry & Karen…………
